This a thread on one of my favorite Horror icon Count Dracula ( played by Bela Lugosi). Although there have been numerous versions of Bram Stokers classic tale, none other is enduring than the 1931 original. The ominous portrayal of Count Dracula (Lugosi) combined with horror specialist director Tod Browning, help to create the film's eeire mood. Dracula remains a masterpiece not only of the genre, but all time. Dracula (1931) Staring: Bela Lugosi with Dave Manners Hellen Chandler Dwight Frye Edward Van Sloan Director: Tod Browning, Based on the Novel by Bram Stoker and the play by Hamilton Deane and John L, Balderston. by: Univesral Studios Now after 75 years the re-release The Universal classic with specially-composed music score by the world-renowned composer Philip Glass and performed by Kronos Quartet. Glass music lends a even a great scarier depth to this timeless classic! Sad to say after Lugosi made Dracula he was forever type-casted to play horror roles plus got addicted to morphine and lost his home and pension. Then in 1958 Bela Lugosi died during filming his last movie Plan 9 From Outer Space directed by his new friend Ed Wood. In his funeral he was buried in his Dracula cape he wore during the 1931 classic. I always remember him by saying this line from Dracula " I bid you welcome" my all time favorite line, Mr. Lugosi had two childern I only one of there names on the DVD Bela Lugosi Jr.
