Probably one of the best love stories which can be watched by guys as well as girls without feeling ashamed is Paul Verhoeven's Turkish Delight from 1973. It stars Rutger ("The Hitcher") Hauer.

Ahhh... Paul Verhoeven. I still haven't seen Showgirls, but I really liked Total Recall and Basic Instinct. And I'm dying to see The 4th Man, but it's out of print. Calling: Blue Underground, where are youuuuuu?!
